about henspiration

Henspiration is a brand about self-love created by henal patel

“Many people have their own battles in life. You either face your battle like a soldier, or you let it beat you down. Summer 2018 was when my life went in a downward spiral. I left a toxic relationship, lost a few of my closest friends, and lost myself. I couldn’t explain to anybody how I was feeling, besides “empty”. I felt unwanted, sad, and alone. For the longest time I did not feel comfortable sharing my emotions because I was afraid of being shut out. I had no sense of what I wanted my life to be. I had a full-time job but that wasn’t enough. I worked 8-9 hours a day, came home and hid under the comforters. Waking up was a nightmare, I wanted to stay in my room and cry instead. This continued for a few months till I told myself I wanted a purpose in life. I needed to go on an adventure to discover who HENAL is, and who she is meant to be. HENSpiration started with little notes to myself, talking to my inner self on what I was feeling. I started to share these notes with some friends who suggested I start to publicize my posts. I shared one post, and the feedback I received was incredible that I decided to share a post every week. I found my purpose – to lend my hand to my peers, to remind them they are not alone, to make my peers smile, to introduce them to their journey to self-love. This past year, I have grown into a woman who is ready for her next battle, a woman who walks like a queen, and a woman who is simply happy.”

I was contracted to design the main logo to introduce the brand.

the logo

given the message behind the journey, the goal was to create an elegant yet playful logo that resonated with the founder of the organization, henal patel. the name is a play on the word “inspiration” combined with her first name, therefore, it was important to have the letter “h” stand out. through a series of sketches, we decided to utilize the symbol of a heart and attach it to the natural curve of the letter itself.

the metallic gold coloring was chosen to emphasize happiness and empowerment and the logo is a serif style originally created from the typeface “Baskerville”.
